The Junior Property Accountant is responsible for assisting with important aspects of daily operations in the Property Accounting Department, including supporting the accounts payable process, vendor management, recording tenant ledger transactions, and assistance with the month end close and owner reporting processes. This role will play a vital part in supporting efficient accounting operations for a rapidly growing portfolio.

Responsibilities:

  • Support the Accounts Payable process by being the liaison between our AP team, vendors, and property management personnel to ensure invoices are processed in a timely manner.
  • Manage vendor relationships to ensure vendor compliance with insurance and tax reporting requirements.
  • Handle vendor payment inquiries by resolving account discrepancies and following up on payment status.
  • Troubleshoot utility billing issues directly with utility companies.
  • Print and mail rent increase letters on a monthly basis.
  • Process tenant security deposit refunds.
  • Receive and respond to tenant ledger inquiries.
  • Record tenant ledger transactions, including charges, credits, and payments.
  • Assist Property Accountants with accounting related requests received from property owners.
  • Assist in the month end close process, including report preparation.
  • Other ad hoc tasks as assigned

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance preferred.
  • Minimum of one year of accounting experience, preferably in real estate accounting.
  • Knowledge of GAAP and real estate accounting principles.
  • AppFolio experience preferred.
  • Accrual-based institutional financial reporting experience preferred.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and analytical skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Salary range: $30-$32/hr.
